Winter Impacts Finally Easing in the West; Rain and Storms Across the South; Flooding Threat in Hawaii

Impacts from the strong winter storm across the west will continue to ease through the day. However, additional mountain snow and rain will be possible through Tuesday. A front stretching from the Upper Midwest through the Southern Plains will increase heavy rain and thunderstorms from the Upper to Lower Mississippi Valley. In Hawaii, rounds of heavy rain will lead to flooding potential today.

Tue: S winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts to 25 kt, becoming SW late in the morning, then diminishing to 10 to 15 kt with gusts to 20 kt early in the afternoon, diminishing to 5 to 10 kt late. Seas 6 to 7 ft, subsiding to 4 to 5 ft. Dominant period 8 seconds. A chance of rain early in the morning. Patchy fog in the morning. vsby 1 nm or less, increasing to 1 to 3 nm late in the morning.

Tue Night: S winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming SE after midnight. Seas around 4 ft. Mainly SE swell. Dominant period 7 seconds.
