Heavy Rains and Severe Weather Expected Across the Southern Plains into the Ohio Valley

A nearly stationary frontal boundary will bring potential for heavy rainfall and flash flooding from Oklahoma into the Ohio River Valley over the next few days. Severe weather is also expected for parts the Southern Plains and the Lower Mississippi River Valley on Thursday and Friday with threats of tornadoes, strong winds and hail. Snow is expected for parts of the Cascades and Northern Rockies.

Synopsis: High pressure across the region maintains southeast winds across the coastal waters through the end of the week, though winds are likely to shift onshore each day with the sea breeze. Wind speeds will remain below 15 kts and seas are forecast to be in the 1-2 ft range through the end of the week with dry weather expected through Friday. Light showers and possibly a few storms could develop for northern coastal waters on Saturday with the approach of the cold front, but this boundary will stall north of the coastal waters.
