...STORM WARNING THROUGH THIS EVENING...
Synopsis: As of 1pm Tuesday a storm force low is developing near fifty two
north, one forty three west, quickly moving north into the Gulf
of Alaska. This low is expected to reach the Fairweather grounds
by 1 am Wednesday. Most concerning is the broad fetch of
southerly storm force winds on the eastern flank of this storm,
generating 35 ft seas. For the inner channels of Southeast
Alaska, winds will continue to increase through Tuesday evening.
Mariners should make ready for southeasterly gale force winds,
with storm force in some larger passages.
Overnight
S wind 40 to 45 kt becoming SSW 30 to 35 kt after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 55 kt. Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. Seas 9 to 10 ft.
Wednesday
SSW wind 20 to 25 kt decreasing to 10 to 15 kt in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 40 kt. Rain. Seas 9 ft subsiding to 5 ft.
Wednesday Night
SW wind 5 to 10 kt becoming ESE after midnight. Rain, mainly before 9pm. Seas 3 to 4 ft.
