Strong System To Move Through East; Very Unsettled Hawaii and Alaska

A strong cold front will sweep through the East on Monday with lake effect snow, high winds and strong to severe thunderstorms. Meanwhile, a powerful Kona low will produce multiple hazards across Hawaii, including heavy rain and potential catastrophic flooding. Finally, a winter storm is impacting Alaska as blizzard and winter storm warnings are in effect for much of western and southern Alaska.

Synopsis: A front over the western Gulf develops into a 975 mb low near the Barren Islands this evening. This low will move to 30 nm south of Cordova and weaken to 980 mb midday Tue. The low moves into the eastern Gulf Tue evening.
