Severe Weather and Flooding Expected Across Parts of the South into the Ohio Valley

Widespread heavy rain and flash flooding is possible across the Mid-Mississippi Valley and Ohio Valley through Friday night along a slow-moving cold front. South of this front will be a severe weather threat from the Southern Plains, the Mid-South, and Lower Mississippi Valley to the Ohio Valley. Chilly temperatures and heavy mountain snowfall will persist for parts of the West.

The flow will remain onshore, but be weaker, into the weekend as high pressure builds over the offshore waters. Offshore flow will then develop early next week as a surface low digs southward over the offshore waters.
