As a potent winter storm moves off the coast of New England, heavy snow will be possible in its wake downwind of the eastern Great Lakes through Monday night and into Tuesday. A quick-hitting winter storm will bring strong winds and snow to the northern Plains and Upper Great Lakes Tuesday. Strong winds and dry conditions will result in critical fire weather conditions in the southern Plains.

Gusty southwesterly winds become westerly overnight as low pressure exits the region through eastern Canada. High pressure will move east from the Great Lakes on Tuesday before cresting over the waters late Tuesday night. A clipper type system will pass well north of the waters Wednesday and Wednesday night. A large Canadian high pressure system will crest over the waters towards the end of the week.
