A persistent heat wave will continue to bring dangerously hot temperatures and set new records across much of the Western U.S. through this week. Excessive Heat Watches and Warnings are in effect. Severe thunderstorms associated with damaging wind gusts and hail will be possible across parts of the Mid-Atlantic, including the National Capitol Region, this afternoon and evening.
