Excessive Heat Lingers in the Southwest; Severe Thunderstorms; Tropical Storm Cristobal

Excessive Heat will continue today over central California and parts of the Southwest including Las Vegas and Phoenix. Severe thunderstorms are forecast over parts of the Upper Midwest and southern Plains today, along with the Mid-Atlantic. Tropical Storm Cristobal is forecast to re-emerge over the southern Gulf of Mexico Friday and move north into the north-central Gulf of Mexico this weekend.
