Heavy Rain and Flash Flood Threats with Nicholas

Tropical Storm Nicholas is expected to slowly move northeastward through southeastern Texas today. Heavy torrential rainfall is expected on the eastern half of Nicholas from extreme southeastern Texas into Louisiana and southern Mississippi and will likely result in areas of life-threatening flash and urban flooding. Also, the outer rain bands of Nicholas may produce a tornado or two.

Synopsis: Weak to moderate northwesterly winds will continue today as Nicholas moves east along the Upper Texas Coast, however seas will remain at Small Craft Advisory levels before improving throughout the afternoon. Dry conditions today will give way to isolated and scattered showers tonight through Wednesday, especially over the open waters. Weak to moderate onshore flow develops tonight before returning to offshore Wednesday and continuing through Thursday morning. Weak to moderate onshore flow thereafter will accompany an increase in moisture along with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms each day.
