A strong storm is expected to produce heavy rainfall in northern and central California that could lead to significant and life-threatening flash floods and mudslides, particularly over burn scar areas, and periods of heavy snow and gusty winds from the Cascades and Sierra into the Intermountain West through Monday. Synopsis: High pressure off the mid Atlantic coast will exit the region today as an upper level disturbance moves across the region with an increasing chance of showers and thunderstorms. A reinforcing area of high pressure will build over the Gulf of Mexico early next week in the wake of the disturbance. A cold front will approach the eastern Gulf of Mexico Wednesday night and Thursday with increasing winds and building seas...with advisory level conditions possible through the end of the week.
