Winter Storm To Impact Parts Of The Midwest To Northern New England

A winter storm will slowly develop over the Ohio Valley through Wednesday before rapidly strengthening while shifting into southeastern Canada Thursday. A band of snow will develop over the Midwest today into Wednesday, with snow shifting to the interior Northeast on Wednesday night and Thursday. Heavy lake effect snow is expected in the eastern Great Lakes snow belts on Thursday and Friday.

Synopsis: Weak onshore flow today will turn offshore this evening before increasing to strong to very strong levels tonight following a cold front. Rain is not expected with the front at this time. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for the bays from this evening through noon Wednesday. A Small Craft Advisory is also in effect for the outer waters from 9 PM CST to midnight. A Gale Warning is in effect from midnight tonight until noon Wednesday for the nearshore and open waters. Gale force winds should taper to SCA levels Wednesday afternoon. Winds and seas will diminish and subside Wednesday night and Thursday as high pressure builds across the area. Weak to moderate northeast winds Thursday will become mostly onshore by Friday.
