Severe Weather and Flooding Expected Across Parts of the South into the Ohio Valley

Widespread heavy rain and flash flooding is possible across the Mid-Mississippi Valley and Ohio Valley through Friday night along a slow-moving cold front. South of this front will be a severe weather threat from the Southern Plains, the Mid-South, and Lower Mississippi Valley to the Ohio Valley. Surface ridging will build north of the state through Friday night, allowing trade winds to gradually return from east to west across the island chain.
