Heavy Rains and Severe Weather Expected Across the Southern Plains into the Ohio Valley

A nearly stationary frontal boundary will bring potential for heavy rainfall and flash flooding from Oklahoma into the Ohio River Valley over the next few days. Severe weather is also expected for parts the Southern Plains and the Lower Mississippi River Valley on Thursday and Friday with threats of tornadoes, strong winds and hail. Snow is expected for parts of the Cascades and Northern Rockies.

A surface trough approaching Kauai from the west-northwest will move slowly east over the western end of the state through Thursday.
