Friday: West of the big island, southeast winds 20 to 25 knots, becoming south southeast 15 to 20 knots in the afternoon. Near kawaihae, winds variable less than 10 knots, becoming north northwest 7 to 10 knots in the afternoon. Seas 6 to 9 feet. Wave detail: south southeast 8 feet at 6 seconds and south southwest 3 feet at 14 seconds. Frequent heavy showers with a slight chance of thunderstorms.
