Atmospheric River Bringing Heavy Rain to Southern California and Heavy Snow to the Sierra Nevadas

A strong atmospheric river will continue heavy rain over southern California through Friday. The heaviest rainfall is ongoing today in the Los Angeles Basin. Flash and urban flooding is possible. Thursday: East wind 15 to 20 knots with gusts to around 25 knots. Slight chance of light freezing rain in the afternoon. Waves 2 to 4 feet.

Thursday Night: Southeast wind 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots easing to 5 to 10 knots with gusts to around 20 knots in the late evening and overnight. Light freezing drizzle and light sleet likely in the evening, then light sleet, rain and snow with light freezing rain likely after midnight. Waves 2 to 4 feet subsiding to 1 to 2 feet after midnight.

Friday: South wind 5 knots becoming southwest in the late morning and afternoon. Chance of rain, light freezing rain and snow in the morning. Waves 1 foot or less.
