Two storm systems will track through the central and eastern U.S. through this weekend with areas of gusty winds, rain, and heavy snow. Severe thunderstorms are forecast Friday from the central Gulf Coast into parts of the lower Mississippi, Tennessee and Ohio Valleys. Rest Of Tonight: South gales to 35 knots. Rain showers likely and a chance of thunderstorms. Waves 6 to 8 feet.

Friday: Southwest gales to 35 knots veering northwest gales to 40 knots in the late morning and early afternoon, then decreasing to 30 knots early in the afternoon. Rain showers likely. Waves 7 to 11 feet.

Friday Night: North winds 5 to 15 knots veering east in the late evening and early morning, then veering southeast after midnight. Partly cloudy. Waves 4 to 6 feet subsiding to 1 to 3 feet.

Saturday: South winds 10 to 15 knots veering west 15 to 25 knots early in the afternoon. Snow showers. Waves around 1 foot building to 2 to 4 feet early in the afternoon.

Saturday Night: West gales to 35 knots. Snow showers. Waves 6 to 9 feet building to 7 to 11 feet after midnight.

Sunday: Northwest gales to 40 knots decreasing to 30 knots early in the afternoon. Snow showers. Waves 8 to 12 feet.

Monday: Southwest gales to 35 knots decreasing to 30 knots early in the afternoon. Partly sunny. Waves 6 to 9 feet.

Tuesday: Southwest winds to 30 knots. Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain showers. Waves 4 to 6 feet.
