Storm Systems to Impact the Central and Eastern U.S. Through the Weekend

Two storm systems will track through the central and eastern U.S. today through this weekend with areas of gusty winds, rain and heavy snow. Severe thunderstorms and heavy to excessive rainfall is forecast today from the Lower Mississippi River Valley to the Tennessee Valley. Today: West gales to 40 kt becoming northwest and diminishing to 15 to 25 kt by midday, then becoming north at around 10 kts by late afternoon. Chance of drizzle and scattered showers this morning. Waves 4 to 6 ft occasionally to 8 ft subsiding to 1 to 3 ft.

Tonight: Northeast winds 5 to 10 kt becoming southeast overnight. Slight chance of rain overnight. Waves 1 to 3 ft.

Saturday: Southwest winds 10 to 15 kt becoming west and increasing to 30 kt in the afternoon. Snow likely and slight chance of rain in the morning, then chance of snow and rain in the afternoon. Waves 1 to 2 ft building to 2 to 4 ft.

Saturday Night: West winds to 30 kt. Chance of snow. Waves 2 to 4 ft building to 3 to 5 ft.
