A powerful Arctic cold front will sweep across the Great Lakes today and into the Northeast early Thursday. Expect brief, intense bursts of heavy snowfall and gusty winds. Late This Afternoon: Northwest wind up to 30 knots with gale force gusts up to 44 knots. Cloudy with scattered snow showers. Waves 3 to 6 feet occasionally to 8 feet building to 5 to 8 feet occasionally to 10 feet.

Tonight: Northwest wind up to 30 knots veering north late. Gale force gusts up to 46 knots. Scattered snow showers through late evening, then numerous snow showers by midnight. Waves building to 6 to 9 feet occasionally to 11 feet, then subsiding to 5 to 8 feet occasionally to 10 feet.

Thursday: North wind up to 30 knots. Gale force gusts up to 41 knots. Mostly cloudy. Snow showers likely through mid morning, then a chance of snow showers by late morning. Waves subsiding to 3 to 5 feet occasionally to 7 feet.

Thursday Night: Northwest wind 15 to 25 knots. Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers in the evening, then partly cloudy with a slight chance of snow showers after midnight. Waves subsiding to 2 to 3 feet.

Friday: West wind 10 to 20 knots. Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of snow showers in the afternoon. Waves subsiding to 1 to 2 feet.
