Extreme Heat and Tropical Storm Bertha Impacts

Dangerous heat will expand from the Gulf Coast into the Southern Plains and Desert Southwest through week's end. Additional extreme heat impacting the Pacific Northwest will shift to the northern Plains by the weekend. Tonight: North winds 5 to 10 knots with gusts up to 25 knots. Lake waters light chop. A chance of showers and thunderstorms early this evening. A slight chance of showers late.

Thursday: Tropical storm conditions possible. Northeast winds 25 to 30 knots, becoming east in the afternoon. Gusts up to 45 knots. Lake waters extremely rough. A chance of showers with a slight chance of thunderstorms early in the morning, then showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms in the late morning and afternoon.

Thursday Night: Southeast winds 10 to 15 knots with gusts up to 25 knots. Lake waters choppy. A chance of showers and thunderstorms early in the evening. A slight chance of showers after midnight.

Friday: South winds around 10 knots. Lake waters light chop. A slight chance of showers early in the morning, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the late morning and early afternoon.
