Storm Systems to Impact the Central and Eastern U.S. Through the Weekend

Two storm systems will track through the central and eastern U.S. today through this weekend with areas of gusty winds, rain and heavy snow. Severe thunderstorms and heavy to excessive rainfall is forecast today from the Lower Mississippi River Valley to the Tennessee Valley. Sunday Night: North to northeast winds near 15 knots, increasing to 20 to 25 knots. Seas 1 to 2 feet, building to 3 to 5 feet, occasionally to 6 feet. Wave detail: north 2 feet at 3 seconds, becoming north 4 feet at 5 seconds. Isolated showers.

Wednesday: Northeast to east winds 5 to 10 knots, becoming northwest to north near 10 knots. Seas 1 to 2 feet. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Wednesday Night: West to northwest winds 10 to 15 knots, increasing to near 15 knots. Seas building to 3 to 4 feet, occasionally to 5 feet. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Thursday: West winds 15 to 20 knots, becoming west to northwest 20 to 25 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet, occasionally to 5 feet, building to 7 to 10 feet, occasionally to 13 feet in the afternoon. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.
