Two storm systems will track through the central and eastern U.S. today through this weekend with areas of gusty winds, rain and heavy snow. Severe thunderstorms and heavy to excessive rainfall is forecast today from the Lower Mississippi River Valley to the Tennessee Valley. Rest Of Today: West wind 5 to 15 knots veering northwest 10 to 15 knots late. Gusts up to 22 knots. Snow. Waves calm to 1 foot building to 1 to 2 feet.

Tonight: North wind 15 to 25 knots with gusts up to 32 knots. Cloudy. Snow showers through midnight, then a chance of snow showers late. Freezing spray by midnight. Waves building to 6 to 9 feet occasionally to 11 feet, then subsiding to 5 to 8 feet occasionally to 10 feet.

Sunday: Northwest wind 10 to 20 knots backing west 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon. Cloudy. Waves subsiding to 2 to 3 feet.

Sunday Night: Southwest wind 15 to 25 knots with gusts up to 32 knots. Cloudy. A chance of snow showers in the evening. Waves building to 3 to 5 feet occasionally to 7 feet, then subsiding to 2 to 4 feet.
