Winter Storm Bringing Widespread Hazardous Weather to the Eastern U.S.

A rapidly-intensifying winter storm continues to bring heavy snow, high winds, and blizzard conditions over the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes through today. Today: North gales to 40 knots backing northwest gales to 35 knots late. Storm force gusts up to 55 knots. Cloudy. A chance of snow through mid morning, then a chance of snow showers by late morning. Heavy freezing spray through the day. Waves subsiding to 12 to 17 feet occasionally to 21 feet.

Tonight: Northwest wind up to 30 knots with gale force gusts up to 43 knots. Cloudy. Heavy freezing spray. Waves subsiding to 4 to 7 feet occasionally to 9 feet.

Tuesday: Northwest wind 10 to 20 knots with gusts up to 28 knots. Cloudy. Freezing spray in the morning. A slight chance of snow showers in the morning, then snow showers likely in the afternoon. Waves subsiding to 2 to 3 feet, then building to 2 to 4 feet.

Tuesday Night: Northwest wind up to 30 knots with gale force gusts up to 41 knots. Snow showers likely. Heavy freezing spray. Waves building to 8 to 11 feet occasionally to 14 feet.
