waters of western Lake Superior.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Small craft advisory is in effect this morning.

A gale warning is in effect tonight through most of Tuesday with
strong northwesterly winds. The gales will create large waves
on the south shore.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday

A system moves through the area Thursday into Friday and may
require marine headlines.

...GALE FORCE WINDS TONIGHT AND TUESDAY...

.A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE NORTHLAND THIS AFTERNOON AND
EVENING, SETTING THE STAGE FOR COLD NORTHWEST FLOW OVER WESTERN
LAKE SUPERIOR. THE FLOW WILL PRODUCE GALE FORCE WIND GUSTS TONIGHT
AND EARLY TUESDAY. THE WINDS AND RESULTING WAVES WILL BE
HAZARDOUS FOR BOATERS, ESPECIALLY WHERE NEAR AREAS OF THE SOUTH
SHORE NEAR AND EAST OF THE BAYFIELD PENINSULA.

...GALE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 8 PM CDT TUESDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DULUTH HAS ISSUED A GALE WARNING,
WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 8 PM CDT TUESDAY. THE GALE WATCH
IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* SUSTAINED WINDS...NORTH 15 TO 25 KNOTS.

* WIND GUSTS...UP TO 40 KNOTS.

* WAVES...7 TO 9 FEET.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A GALE WARNING MEANS WINDS OF 34 TO 47 KNOTS ARE IMMINENT OR
OCCURRING. OPERATING A VESSEL IN GALE CONDITIONS REQUIRES
EXPERIENCE AND PROPERLY EQUIPPED VESSELS. IT IS HIGHLY
RECOMMENDED THAT MARINERS WITHOUT THE PROPER EXPERIENCE SEEK SAFE
HARBOR PRIOR TO THE ONSET OF GALE CONDITIONS.
