...LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS MOVING ACROSS THE WATERS SURROUNDING LONG
ISLAND AND SOUTHEAST CONNECTICUT...

The areas affected include...

  Sandy Hook NJ to Montauk Point NY out 20 NM...
  Central and Eastern Long Island Sound...
  Peconic and Gardiners Bays...
  Long Island South Shore Bays...

At 621 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were
located along a line extending from Fishers Island to Six Mile Reef
to near Herod Point to near East Bay, moving southeast at 30 knots.

These thunderstorms will be near...
  Fishers Island, Six Mile Reef, The Race, Long Sand Shoal,
  New London Harbor, Westbrook Center, Mattituck Inlet, and the
  mouth of the Connecticut River around 625 PM EDT.
  Horton Point and Western Block Island Sound around 630 PM EDT.
  Dering Harbor and Little Peconic Bay around 635 PM EDT.
  Orient Point and Shelter Island around 640 PM EDT.
  Moriches Bay, Plum Island, and Montauk Point around 645 PM EDT.
  Fire Island Inlet and Gardiners Bay around 650 PM EDT.
  Westhampton Beach and Great Peconic Bay around 655 PM EDT.
  Gardiners Island around 700 PM EDT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, lightning strikes, and heavy downpours. A special marine
warning may eventually be required. Boaters should consider heading
for shore before these storms arrive.
