Excessive Heat Spreads East; Many Areas with Heavy Rain Threats

Hot and muggy conditions are forecast to continue across the Midwest and Northeast, while spreading eastward. A frontal boundary bringing very heavy rains to the Upper Midwest will sag southward bringing cooler temperatures to areas to the north, including the city of Chicago. Heavy rains will also be possible along the Texas Gulf Coast from a tropical disturbance.

A broad area of low pres over British Columbia will gradually sink southward over the inland Pac NW early next week. Then we will return to the NE Pac high, thermal low over northern Calif for the second half of next week.
