High pressure building into the Western U.S. will create strong offshore winds in southern California. Temperatures in this region are unseasonably hot, and conditions are dry. The combination of these strong winds and dry conditions will bring fire danger to portions of southern California. Red Flag Warnings are in effect here. Any new fires in this region could quickly grow out of control.

Synopsis: PMZ150-232030- 300 PM ChST Mon Oct 23 2017 .Synopsis for Marianas Waters...Large long-period swell from distant Typhoon Lan will continue to move through the Marianas. Tropical Depression 27W, southeast of the Marianas, is expected to pass just southwest of Guam on Tuesday and will bring stronger winds and rougher seas beginning tonight. Therefore a Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for all the Marianas. There is also a Tropical Storm Watch, in case 27W either intensifies faster or moves closer than currently forecast. Showers and thunderstorms will increase as Tropical Depression 27W approaches on Tuesday. $$
