Cool and Dry in the East; Turning Stormy in the Northwest

Much cooler temperatures behind a cold front will bring a feeling of fall to the East Coast today. In addition, an active fall storm pattern developing in the Pacific Northwest this week will bring areas of heavy rain and high elevation snow. Northern California will benefit from rainfall this week that will aid firefighters given the recent large wildfires.

Wind waves 2 ft or less...becoming 3 ft in the evening, then...becoming 2 ft or less after midnight. NW swell 5 to 8 ft at 11 seconds.

Wed: Northern portion, S wind 5 to 15 kt. Brookings southward, wind variable less than 5 kt...becoming S 5 kt in the afternoon. Wind waves 2 ft or less. Swell NW 5 to 7 ft at 10 seconds.

Wed Night: Northern portion, S wind 15 to 20 kt... Rising to 20 to 25 kt after midnight. Brookings southward, S wind 10 to 20 kt. Wind waves 3 to 5 ft. NW swell 5 ft at 10 seconds... Building to 6 to 7 ft at 10 seconds after midnight.
