Unsettled Across the West; Increasingly Rainy with a Few Storms in the South

A frontal system will bring heavy precipitation, including mountain snowfall to much of the Pacific Northwest, northern California, and portions of the Rockies through Tuesday. Elsewhere, wet weather will return to much of the South with locally heavy rainfall; a few strong to severe thunderstorms will also be possible in this region by Tuesday.

Tonight: S wind 5 to 15 kt...rising to 20 to 25 kt. Wind waves 2 ft or less...becoming 3 to 5 ft after midnight. Swell W 7 to 8 ft at 14 seconds.

Tue: S wind 30 kt...rising to gales 35 kt. Wind waves 7 to 10 ft...building to 10 to 13 ft in the afternoon. Swell NW 8 to 10 ft at 15 seconds. Rain.

Tue Night: W wind 15 to 20 kt. Wind waves 9 to 12 ft... Subsiding to 6 to 7 ft after midnight. Mixed swell NW 8 to 9 ft and W 10 ft...building to W 11 ft after midnight. Rain in the evening, then widespread showers after midnight.

Wed: NW wind 10 to 15 kt. Wind waves 5 to 6 ft. Swell NW 11 to 12 ft. Chance of showers.

Wed Night: NW wind 5 to 10 kt...veering to NE after midnight. Wind waves 5 to 6 ft...subsiding to 3 to 4 ft after midnight. NW swell 11 to 13 ft.

Fri: NE wind 5 kt...veering to SE in the afternoon, then... Backing to N in the evening...veering to NE after midnight. Wind waves 2 ft or less. Swell NW 5 to 6 ft.
