Extreme Fire Weather Threat for Southern California; Heavy Rain for Texas

Extremely critical fire weather threats are in effect for southern California. Unseasonably warm temperatures, very dry fuels and low humidity are contributing to the threats, but the main concern is very strong Santa Ana winds. These winds bring the potential for rapid fire growth and extreme fire behavior. In Texas, steady heavy to excessive rain will keep a flood threat intact through Tuesday.

Synopsis: A weather front over the northern panhandle causing windy conditions and heavy rain north of Frederick Sound will weaken slightly Monday. A developing weather front will begin to track northeast Monday night. Gale force winds will develop with this front along the eastern gulf water zones and increase winds to small craft advisory levels throughout some of the inner channels.
