Wildfire Danger Continues in Southern California

High pressure building into the Western U.S. will create strong offshore winds in southern California. Temperatures in this region are unseasonably hot, and conditions are dry. The combination of these strong winds and dry conditions will bring fire danger to portions of southern California. Red Flag Warnings are in effect here. Any new fires in this region could quickly grow out of control.

Early This Morning: North gales to 40 knots with storm force gusts up to 58 knots. Showers. Waves 10 to 14 feet occasionally to 18 feet building to 12 to 17 feet occasionally to 21 feet.

Today: North gales to 45 knots with storm force gusts up to 62 knots. Rain showers. Waves building to 22 to 27 feet occasionally to 34 feet, then subsiding to 20 to 25 feet occasionally to 31 feet.

Tonight: North gales to 35 knots backing northwest up to 30 knots after midnight. Storm force gusts up to 54 knots. Rain showers through midnight, then scattered rain showers possibly mixed with snow showers late. Waves subsiding to 9 to 12 feet occasionally to 15 feet.

Wednesday: North wind 10 to 20 knots with gusts up to 28 knots. Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain showers. Waves subsiding to 2 to 4 feet.

Wednesday Night: North wind 5 to 15 knots through midnight becoming variable. Partly cloudy through midnight then becoming mostly cloudy. Waves subsiding to 1 to 2 feet.
