Out West, locally heavy snow is expected in the mountains this weekend, along with cold and windy conditions more typical of February than March. Elsewhere, conditions will be increasingly conducive to severe thunderstorms through Monday. Today's risk is in the southern Plains; threat expands into the lower Miss. Valley by Sunday. By Monday, significant severe storms are possible in the Southeast.
