Heavy Rainfall and Storms in the Carolinas; Active Pattern in the West; Strong Winter Storm in Alaska

Showers and storms will continue across the Mid-Atlantic today. Some storms may produce heavy to excessive rainfall especially within the Carolinas which could lead to flash, urban and small stream flooding. Valley rain and mountain snow will continue to spread across the West today and Friday. A strong winter storm will bring blizzard conditions to the Arctic coastline in Alaska through Friday.

Friday: Northwest winds 10 to 15 knots becoming west and increasing to 30 knots in the afternoon. Mostly sunny. Waves 2 to 4 feet building to 5 to 8 feet. Waves occasionally around 10 feet.

Friday Night: West winds 15 to 25 knots becoming northwest. Mainly clear. Waves 5 to 8 feet subsiding to 3 to 6 feet. Waves occasionally around 10 feet.

Saturday: West winds 15 to 20 knots diminishing to 5 to 15 knots. A chance of rain showers saturday night. Waves 3 to 5 feet subsiding to 1 to 3 feet. Waves occasionally around 6 feet.
