Heavy snow and hazardous travel for portions of the Great Lakes, Northeast, and New England

Heavy snow, bitterly cold temperatures, and treacherous travel will be likely from the Great Lakes to the Northeast, and into New England over the next couple of days. Heavy Lake Effect snow of one to two feet will impact areas downwind of Lake Eerie and Ontario. Widespread snowfall of 6 to 12 inches will also impact much of northern New England.

Tonight: North wind 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas up to 5 feet.

Wednesday: North wind up to 5 knots shifting southwest in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 3 feet.

Wednesday Night: South wind 5 to 10 knots shifting southwest after midnight. Seas 1 feet building to 2 feet after midnight.

Thursday: West wind 5 to 10 knots shifting north in the afternoon. Seas 2 feet.

Thursday Night: North wind 15 to 20 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet building to 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas up to 6 feet after midnight.

Friday: North wind 15 to 20 knots decreasing to 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon. Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas up to 6 feet.

Friday Night: Northeast wind 5 to 10 knots shifting south after midnight. Seas 2 to 3 feet.

Saturday: South wind 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet building to 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas up to 6 feet in the afternoon.

Saturday Night: South wind around 15 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas up to 6 feet. A slight chance of showers.
