Heavy Rainfall and Storms in the Carolinas; Active Pattern in the West; Strong Winter Storm in Alaska

Showers and storms will continue across the Mid-Atlantic today. Some storms may produce heavy to excessive rainfall especially within the Carolinas which could lead to flash, urban and small stream flooding. Valley rain and mountain snow will continue to spread across the West today and Friday. A strong winter storm will bring blizzard conditions to the Arctic coastline in Alaska through Friday.

Winds and seas higher in and around thunderstorms.

Tonight: Northwest to north winds near 25 knots, becoming north to northeast 20 to 25 knots. Seas 5 to 9 feet.

Friday: Northeast winds near 20 knots, decreasing to 15 to 20 knots. Seas 6 to 8 feet, subsiding to 5 to 7 feet.

Friday Night: Northeast to east winds 15 to 20 knots. Seas 5 to 7 feet.

Saturday: East winds 15 to 20 knots. Seas 4 to 6 feet.

Saturday Night: East winds 15 to 20 knots, decreasing to near 15 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet.
