High pressure building into the Western U.S. will create strong offshore winds in southern California. Temperatures in this region are unseasonably hot, and conditions are dry. The combination of these strong winds and dry conditions will bring fire danger to portions of southern California. Red Flag Warnings are in effect here. Any new fires in this region could quickly grow out of control.

Synopsis: Showers and thunderstorms will increase today and tonight ahead of a cold front which will move down the Florida peninsula today. The front will move through South Florida and the local waters late tonight and early Wednesday. Following the passage of the front, wind and seas will increase over all local waters Wednesday and Wednesday night with likely Small Craft Advisory conditions. Wind and seas will gradually subside Thursday and Friday, but still remain at moderate levels. Showers and thunderstorms increase again over the local waters Saturday as low pressure moves north over the region.

North northwest winds 10 to 15 knots along the coast to north northwest 15 to 25 knots in the gulf stream. Along the coast, seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. In the gulf stream, seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet building to 5 to 7 feet with occasional seas to 9 feet in the afternoon. Period 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Showers and scattered thunderstorms ending late.
