Significant Snowfall for Washington Cascades and Northern Rocky Mountains

A cold front will linger for several days from the Pacific Northwest to portions of the northern Plains early this week. Cold temperatures and copious moisture will combine to produce several feet of snow into the mountain passes, with up to 4 feet of snow down to 4000 feet in the northern Rockies. At 1 PM, A 1028 mb high was over central Nevada and a 1009 mb low was over extreme northwest Sonora Mexico. Offshore flow will occur through Tuesday except for northwest winds during the afternoons. Weak to moderate onshore flow will return Wednesday, possibly becoming hazardous to small craft Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. Another surface high will build into the Great Basin later Thursday, bringing more offshore flow. Weaker offshore flow may occur Friday. $$
