Above-normal temperatures are forecast across much of the contiguous U.S. on Tuesday and in some cases will be as much as 10-15 degrees above average for this time of year. Afternoon highs could reach 90 or higher from the Great Plains to the Eastern Seaboard. One exception will be across parts of the Pacific Northwest. Remember to practice heat safety if you plan to spend extended time outside.

Synopsis: AT 15Z...OR 8 AM PDT...A BROAD 1024 MB HIGH PRESSURE CENTER WAS LOCATED 650 NM WEST OF SAN FRANCISCO. A 996 MB LOW PRESSURE CENTER WAS LOCATED JUST SOUTH OF JUNEAU ALASKA AND A 1005 MB THERMAL LOW WAS CENTERED OVER SOUTHERN NEVADA.

MODERATE NORTHWEST TO NORTHERLY FLOW WILL DIMINISH ACROSS THE OUTER WATERS THIS MORNING THEN INCREASE AGAIN THIS AFTERNOON AND INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. STEEP AND CHOPPY SEAS WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE OUTER WATERS THROUGH TONIGHT AND WILL AFFECT PORTIONS OF THE INNER WATERS AS WELL.
