Another southern storm system will bring heavy to excessive rainfall with a risk for severe thunderstorms from the central Gulf Coast to the Southeast Friday. This heavy rainfall will then spread across the Mid-Atlantic region late Friday into the Weekend. A strong cold front moving into the Pacific Northwest will bring strong, possibly damaging winds to the coast Friday.

As high pressure moves east into the Atlantic today, a cold front will move in from the northwest and cross the Gulf of Maine early Saturday. Winds will increase out of the southwest ahead of the front, then shift to the west and north behind it as high pressure builds into northern Maine and the Canadian Maritimes on Sunday. Meanwhile, low pressure tracking out of the Southeast US will arrive at the Mid Atlantic coast on Sunday and push eastward out to sea south of Cape Cod Sunday night. The next cold front arrives from the northwest on Monday with a strong, cold northwest flow behind it. && $$
