
Prolonged Atmospheric River Will Impact the Northwest Early this Week
A weather system in the Pacific Northwest will produce rain throughout the day, before a potent atmospheric river produces a prolonged round of heavy rainfall, widespread urban and river flooding, and high elevation snow to the region Monday through Wednesday. Today: Southwest wind 10 to 15 knots. Gusts up to 20 knots in the late morning and afternoon. Chance of flurries late in the afternoon. Waves 1 to 2 feet. Tonight: Southwest wind 15 to 20 knots with gusts to around 25 knots becoming west 10 to 15 knots with gusts to around 20 knots early in the morning. Snow in the evening, then chance of snow after midnight. Waves 1 to 3 feet building to 2 to 4 feet in the late evening and overnight. Tuesday: Northwest wind 10 to 15 knots becoming west 5 knots late in the morning, then becoming southwest early in the afternoon becoming southeast late in the afternoon. Slight chance of snow in the morning, then snow likely in the afternoon. Waves 1 to 3 feet. Tuesday Night: Northeast wind 20 to 25 knots with gusts to around 30 knots easing to 15 to 20 knots with gusts to around 30 knots early in the morning. Snow in the evening, then snow likely after midnight. Waves 1 to 2 feet building to 3 to 5 feet in the late evening and overnight. Waves occasionally to 7 feet.
